The Ocean Cleanup, the Dutch non-profit organization developing advanced technologies to rid the world’s oceans of plastic, unveiled last Saturday its invention to prevent the unrelenting flow of plastic pollution into the world’s oceans. The Interceptor™, under development by The Ocean Cleanup since 2015, complements the organization’s founding mission by attacking the flow of plastic garbage at its source, the world’s vast network of rivers. The DRR Team to Myanmar, with HKV team leader Marco Hartman, HKV team member Carolien Wegman and members of Arcadis, Deltares and Royal HaskoningDHV, started last week their mission with a visit to Bilin and Hpa-an. The mission aimed to support the authorities in mitigating the impact of notorious flooding in the area. Read more
Asplan Viak (lead contractor, Norway), HKV and Svasek (both from the Netherlands) together have been selected for the 'Fjord Crossings' project for two framework agreements for current and wave studies.
In order to realize the ambition to complete the E39 Coastal Highway Route as an improved and continuous route without ferries, new bridge technology needs to be developed for crossing of the extreme fjords along the west coast. Read more
